A Note From the Chief's Desk:
To My Fellow Umpire and Potential Student:

I want to take a moment to thank you for your interest in attending our school. We are the world’s most successful umpire training program. We have prepared more umpires to move into professional baseball, and more umpires to move into the Major Leagues, than all other programs in history, combined! I am very happy to hear that you are interested in becoming one of our next success stories. Whether your aspirations in umpiring are to become a Big League umpire, or just to improve your skills at the amateur level, our training program is designed for you.
Our program was designed to accommodate students at every experience level, and from every part of the world. We employ comprehensive training methods, designed to instruct and evaluate umpires in every area of umpiring. Students are put through drills regularly in order to emphasize the proper mechanics and positioning through repetition. Students are sent through the cages on a constant basis in order to develop consistent and accurate strike zones. We put our students through control situations, with an instructor holding the bat, in order to set up specific plays and situations in every area of the game. Our students will also participate in camp games, played and umpired by the students. We are also the only umpire training program that includes in their curriculum live games, played by high school and college teams. This not only offers the ability to evaluate students in real game situations on the field, but also prepares them better for the PBUC placement camp. This one week camp is held to determine the league and level our students will begin their careers in. Here, students are evaluated solely on the performance during live games. Offering students the experience of live games during their training best prepares them for gaining higher placement at the course.
Our training methods aren’t the only thing that sets us apart. Our staff is comprised of umpires from every area of professional baseball. It is a staff that consists of both experienced Major League umpires and umpires from every level of Minor League Baseball. Because your first years in the game will be in the Minor Leagues, it is important to have instructors who were recently in your position. But because your ultimate goal is to reach the Major Leagues, we also provide 12 full time Major League umpires on staff. They can offer you the experience and instruction that a newer umpire cannot provide. No other program can offer you the dedicated, experienced, and comprehensive staff that I will provide.
Again, I want to thank you for the time you’ve taken to explore what our program has to offer you, and look forward to providing you with an amazing experience at the Wendelstedt Umpire School. If there is anything that I or my staff can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Harry Wendelstedt
